Seagrass and Mountain grass Rugs - Naturally Beautiful!

Love the natural look for your home? You can keep the natural air of your décor scheme all throughout your room by using seagrass and mountain grass rugs.

Seagrass rugs are woven by using actual seagrass; the sturdy salt marsh grass that is grown in the paddy fields all throughout Southeastern Asia. The thick and rigid leaves of seagrass are wonderful to use in weaving products that need to be durable such as rugs for your home and have been used for centuries in Asian homes for their simplistic beauty and unmatched durability.

Both seagrass and mountain grass rugs are made from the same type of durable woven plant fibers. However the different names for the seagrasses are dependent on where they are grown. Paddy grown plants are termed "seagrass" and plants harvested from the high altitudes are called "mountain grass". There is no difference in color, durability or quality between seagrass and mountain grass.

The "skin" of the seagrass leaves is non-porous and feels silky smooth to the touch. Once the seagrass has been harvested, the long strands of seagrass are naturally dried and then spun into yarns. The yarns are woven into tightly designed rugs that will last for ages.

Because of the non-porous nature of the seagrass leaves, seagrass is not available in colors beyond its own natural state. The slightly green cast will become less green over time and the eventually the color will turn to a beautiful, neutral light brown color that will fit seamlessly into any décor. You can easily color coordinate the rugs of your choice by choosing bindings for the rugs in accent colors to match your own home décor. The seagrass rugs do not become brittle over time and are easy to keep clean with just regular vacuuming.

The benefits of seagrass and mountain seagrass are many. Seagrass rugs are among the most stain resistant natural fibers available on the market today as well as being a quietly elegant addition to your home décor. If you want to give someone a house warming present they can really use for years to come, think: seagrass rugs.
